Without money

Question of the day: We all know Isaiah 53. What is my favorite verse of Isaiah 52 and why?

Answer: Isaiah 52:6 "Therefore My people will know My Name. Therefore in that day, I am the One who will be saying, 'Hineni!'"

The verse above starts with "therefore." Why? We read the preceding verses to see that there is a lot of talk about "nothing." We got into a terrible situation (from which there was no escape) for nothing. Therefore; we will be redeemed with nothing.

How can we be redeemed with "nothing?" Why would we call the Savior's blood, "nothing?" Earlier in the chapter (verse 3) we are redeemed without Kesef, which means "silver." But Kesef is also our Hebrew word for "money." God redeemed (bought us back) without money/silver. No wonder Judas was paid in silver.

Let's close with this verse. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Ruach ha-Kodesh who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body."
