Question of the day: God asks Job ... Job 40:9 "Do you have an arm like God's and can you thunder with a voice like His?" Answer: No, no arm (like God's) and no voice (like God's). What's the point. God has all authority (arm), and we have none. God speaks (voice) and we listen. He teaches us, we don't teach Him. Later Job rightly answers God ... Job 42:1-3 "Job answered Adonai and said: 'I know You can do all things; no purpose of Yours can be thwarted. You ask, "Who is this, who darkens counsel without knowledge?" Surely I spoke without understanding, things too wonderful for me which I did not know.'" This was the answer God was seeking. Job 42:12 "So Adonai blessed Job's latter days more than at his beginning." And the implication is that He will do the same for us. Job says to God ... Job 42:5-6 "I had heard of You by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye has seen You." (But this brings Job to an unusual conclusion) "Therefore; I despise myself, and repent on dust and ashes." May each of us who see the Lord reach this same conclusion. And what conclusion is that? There are two; the need to repent and the need to think less of ourselves. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
