Let's get started. What is wisdom? The Bible tells us to be wise ... Psalm 37:30 "The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom and his tongue speaks justice." But, like so many spiritual topics, we have a hard time comprehending their full meaning. After all, we've never been to the store to buy a pound of wisdom. In fact, we only find out how little wisdom we have when we need it the most. In short, it's hard to wrap our arms around wisdom. So let's "drill down". I'm not saying I have any (wisdom). What I am saying is I've been around long enough to know what wisdom is (like you, I know it when I see it). So, here's my definition. Wisdom is the ability to size up a situation and the people in it by assembling known facts. Then, based on that analysis know in advance, with some probability (higher or lower), how likely it is that a given outcome will take place. You may have heard the phrase, "I didn't just fall off the turnip truck (yesterday)." It means "I wan't born yesterday." What I've been describing to you is worldly wisdom. But what we want is kingdom of God wisdom. What's the difference? Kingdom of God wisdom puts God in every situationand anticipates His will and power. This is not hard. We have the Bible and we have the Holy Spirit, both of them speak to us. Our decision making ability becomes easier when we use wisdom to know the will of God. WWYD? Want to practice? Pray with me. Father in heaven, speak into my life concerning __________. Open my eyes to see the path of righteousness you are setting before me. Grant me courage, Lord, to overcome every temptation, and the strength to obey you. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In Yeshua's name. Amen.
