Faith - although much trumpeted as an essential component of salvation - after all, Rav Sha'ul explains that "If you confess with your mouth that Yeshua is L-rd and believe in your heart that G-d raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved" (Romans 10:9) and our relationship with G-d - "Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever to G-d must must believe that He is, and that He rewards those who seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6) - many people do not appreciate that the word we translated 'faith' in the Scriptures is often translated 'faithfulness'. Yeshua was faithful towards G-d in fulfilling His commission to save the people of G-d by His death on the cross. We exercise faith in Yeshua that He will be faithful to His promise that "everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day" (John 6:40). Our covenant is with G-d Himself, "The One making heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; the One keeping faith - or is that 'guarding faithfulness' - for ever" (Psalm 145:6).
