The Whole Armour of God - Part One
|
In Ephesians 6 we see that Paul ends the epistle to the congregation in Ephesus by giving them tools to help them stand against the wiles of the enemy. He cautions and instructs them through the illustration of the armor which was similar to the that which was worn by the roman soldiers during that time. The armor was not only to protect against being attacked but also in order to protect them when going forth in battle, doing the will of God. In verse 11 we are commanded to put on the whole armor of God not some but all. We are told to pick up the shield and sword. What is the parallel of the armor and weapons between the roman soldiers and to us today? We need to know that our fight is never against man (flesh and blood), but the spiritual principalities and powers in control over the earth. In verse 13 we are commanded to take hold of all the weapons of God. The character which believers need in order to do this are clean hands and a pure heart. This is who may ascend into the hill of the Lord. Psalm 24:3-5 In John 14:30 Yeshua said that the ruler of this world is coming and he has nothing in Me. So if we want to conquer this earth we need to be clean from the corruption of this world. In Ephesians 6:14 Paul begins his explanation of the armor of God - and we will look at this in more detail tomorrow. This is taken from the Harvest of Asher Facebook page.
