Ma Sh'lomcha (for a man)? Ma Sh'lomech (for a woman)? Figuratively, how are you doing? Literally, how is your shalom? Anyone ever been to the store to buy a pound of shalom? It's not so simple, reporting on your shalom. It's not like you can go out and put your hands on it. Yeshua thinks shalom is so important that He made it one of the last things He said to His disciples before His crucifixion. John 14:27 "Shalom I leave you, My shalom I give to you; but not as the world gives! Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid." What did Yeshua mean, "Not as the world gives?" The world doesn’t really give. It's called giving, but most often it is really trading. The world "gives" but wants something in return. Yeshua gives and it's pure giving without any recompense. Then Yeshua ties holding tight to our shalom to His expected return. John 14:28 "You've heard Me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.'" Let's remember whatever we endure between now and then will only make His return that much sweeter. 1 Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written, 'Things no eye has seen and no ear has heard, that have not entered the heart of mankind - these things God has prepared for those who love Him.'" (quoting Isaiah 64:3) Blessings, R. Michael.
