Giving God honor and glory
|
How do we give God honor and glory? We are commanded to give God the glory. Let's read Psalm 22 (a very prophetic Psalm focused on Yeshua's ministry). There we will find this. Psalm 22:24 "You who fear Adonai, praise Him! All Jacob's descendants, glorify Him! Revere Him, all you seed of Israel." Some online seem to make glory and honor out to be synonyms. They may be, but there are also some distinctives we should appreciate. The glory of God is His oneness. The idea that Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one is the glory of God. He invites us into that oneness (pictured in the 4 species of Sukkot). When we act in accordance with His will we become one with Him and give Him glory. 1 Chronciles 16:28-29 "Ascribe to Adonai, O families of the peoples, ascribe to Adonai glory and strength. Ascribe to Adonai the glory due to His Name. Bring an offering and come before Him. Worship Adonai in the splendor of holiness." In Isaiah 58, God accuses people who desire to honor Him of being selfish (think about the word "self-ish"). God says this so we will know that we honor God whenever we do what He wants and not what we want. We become self-less instead of self-ish. This world is built upon "looking out for number 1." The kingdom of God is also build upon "looking out for number 1." The difference is who (or Who) is number 1. Blessings my friends, Rabbi Michael
