Ready

Ready - also 'prepared' or 'available' (OED). The word is used in eighty verses in the Bible (depending on your version). Ezekiel is to tell Gog, "Be ready and keep ready, you and all your hosts that are assembled about you" (Ezekiel 38:7), ready to be deployed and summoned at G-d's command. Yeshua tells the disciples "Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect" (Matthews 24:44).

How are we to be ready? What does G-d expect us to do? Yeshua continues: "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes" (vv. 45-46). We must feed the household of G-d, making sure that there is sufficient food and resource available for everyone who comes and needs food. Whether than means donating to or working at a food bank near you, investing in ministries that feed the physically hungry with food or the spiritually hungry with teaching, or simply providing hospitality in your own home or fellowship, is between you and the L-rd; whatever He has for you.

The key is for your heart to be ready to greet the L-rd, with everything done as He has said. Then you wil be ready indeed.
