A word for Elul

Shalom Mishpuchah! Ijust wanted to send a quick note to you all. We are now into the days of Elul, looking forward to the fall holidays of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot. It is traditional during this time to read Psalm 27 every day, from which comes some real gems from King David:

Just one thing have I asked of Adonai; only this will I seek: to live in the house of Adonai all the days of my life, to see the beauty of Adonai and visit in his temple. - Psalm 27:4 (CJB)

As we are repenting and turning back to G-d during this season, let us remember to see the beauty of Hashem. What does this phrase mean? We can understand God’s beauty to be his covenantal love, his mercy, his kingship, his majesty, his faithfulness, his justice, and all the attributes of the loving Father and Judge. Remember, it’s his kindness that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4).

May Hashem richly bless you and your family during this season of Elul.
