Psalm 130 - God has called us to follow Him
|
Psalm 130:7-8 "O Israel, hope in the Lord; for with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption. And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities." NKJV In Hebrew we say hope and it means "wait with expectation". So in Hebrew hope is active and not passive. Actively wait with expectation on the Lord. Why? Because with the Lord there is grace. Waiting with expectation, although active, is not performance based. Yes, grace by grace. The last phrase of verse 7 translates, "And with Him is abundant redemption." It appears redemption by grace is (in fact) spoken of in the Hebrew Scriptures. Verse 8 is the last verse of Psalm 130. Here is a more literal translation. "And He will redeem exactly Israel from all sin." Do you suppose Paul knew of this verse when he wrote Romans? The 3 chapters, Romans 9 (27), 10 (1), and 11 (26) each refer to the salvation of Israel. Pray that we obtain God's heart on this.
