Psalm 129 - God has called us to love what He loves

Psalm 129:7-8 "With which the reaper does not fill his hand, nor he who binds sheaves, his arms. Neither let those who pass by them say, 'The blessing of the Lord be upon you; we bless you in the name of the Lord!'" NKJV

These last 2 verses of Psalm 129 only make sense in light of the previous verses. We are still learning what will happen to those who hate Zion. In verse 7, the Lord specifies more about how they will not be harvested (not in the hand of the reaper nor in the bosom of the one who binds sheaves).

Verse 8 is like verse 7, still describing the future of those who hate Zion. They will not be able to give a blessing in the name of the Lord.

Those who love Zion are a kingdom of priests unto God (see Exodus 19:6 and Revelation 1:6). Priests have an anointing by God to bless others. By denying this anointing to those who hate Zion, the Lord is making a bold statement concerning how important it is for His children to love what He loves.
