Psalm 128 - God offers blessing from Zion
|
Psalm 128:5-6 "The Lord bless you out of Zion, and may you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life. Yes, may you see your children's children. Peace be upon Israel! NKJV These 2 verses of Scripture (notable in ancient days for being part of the Psalms of Ascent) are perhaps the most sung verses of the Bible in modern Israel. Another translation: "The Lord bless you from Zion and you will see (in good) Jerusalem all the days of your life. And see your children's children, shalom on all Israel." Here is a sandwich. Bread on both sides along with 2 ingredients in the middle. The blessing of God on you is one slice of bread. The other is peace on all Israel. In the middle of the sandwich we find a vision of two things; Jerusalem and grandchildren. These 2 verses offer this blessing from the Lord. Own it. How fitting for Shabbat. Shabbat Shalom.
