The emergence of Messianic Jewish Apostleship
|
Question: How do you see the emergence of a Messianic Jewish apostleship occurring today and what does that really mean? What are the implications of that? Well, I think if anybody thinks of apostleship in terms of having the authority of the original twelve apostles, then those that were added to that circle like Paul and Jude, they're going to fall into deception. Nobody is an apostle like that. Nobody is going to write scripture. But there are people that are sent forth to produce movements. So I think when you talk about movement leadership there will be Messianic Jewish apostles, and the Church will come into a loving relationship with them, just like there will be many church apostles. There may even be a kind of spiritual sensitivity to that in deference, but none of us see ourselves as coming into a kind of rulership and re-unifying the Church under a kind of Jewish papacy. That is far from us and probably a hateful thought that would scare us half to death! What we do also believe is that there will be a Jewish apostleship in the sense of missions to the nations. We believe that we are going to be helping complete the work of the great commission by sending people to the nations as Jews and to evangelize the nations. So that's a big part of our vision, especially in Jerusalem.
