Life Rising out of Death

Seventy years after Auschwitz I am reflecting on the testimonies of two survivors of the Holocaust.

Could any of our emaciated, crushed people even have dreamed that the rebirth of the Jewish state was to occur a mere three years after the slaughter?

Was there hope even in their despair? Could anyone hope to find meaning again? And what has that to do with the prophets of the Bible?

As if viewing both the ovens of Auschwitz and the rebirth of Israel, they spoke of a miraculous resurrection. Without seeing, they saw.

And of course the miracle of the birth of the state of Israel came from tragedy! I explore some of these themes in this article, so you don't want to miss out on reading it.
