A History of Tikkun: Planting in Israel
|
In 1991, Asher Intrater and Eitan Shishkoff said that they were called to move to Israel, to plant in Israel and to establish what we believe in the land of Israel. In their going to Israel we called ourselves "Tikkun". Tikkun was the name chosen to establish them in Israel because the name Tikkun means restoration. The ultimate understanding of restoration comes from Acts chapter 3. In Acts 3 we read that Yeshua must remain in heaven until the times of the restoration of all things spoken by the mouth of all the holy prophets since the world began. Now this is very interesting because, of course, that was expressed in the Greek language. When we chose the name Tikkun we didn't realize that the name Tikkun which means restoration - it also means repair - was actually the word used in the official Hebrew translation of the Greek New Testament. So that's what Acts 3 says in Hebrew: Tikkun.
