Rebuking, Correcting and & Disciplining
|
The verses that I have used in this Mitzvah are many, especially those in the New Covenant Scriptures that show us how to conduct ourselves in the Body of Messiah. Scripture authorizes individuals to rebuke and correct neighbours ... who are in sin, and authorizes congregational leaders (elders) to rebuke, correct, and discipline (for sin) members of their respective communities. I have written at some length about this and have given my understanding of the outworking of this idea under the following headings: Responding to a Private Offense of a Brother; Responding to a Public Offense of a Brother; Rebuking and Correcting Our Neighbor Even When There is No Offense; and Bringing Correction to Persons Outside of the Believing Community.
