Dan Juster's classic article on leadership, accountability and the biblical models for these things is now available in the Resources section of the Tikkun America web site. The article is split into four sections: 1. Government, Authority and Justice in the Old Covenant Scriptures From the beginning of governance by a family model, through the emerging leadership style under Moses and Joshua to the authority used during the time of the kings, Dan takes us through the specific forms of government in the Old Testament. 2. Authority and Congregational Government in the New Testament Dan splits this into three subheadings: The Teachings of Yeshua; Authority and Governance in the Book of Acts; and Authority and Governance in the Epistles. He concludes that while a speciļ¬c form of government is not explicitly brought out in the teaching of Yeshua, there are principles for good government and that the Epistles confirms the picture in Acts that of natural relational accountability governance of local congregations. 3. Models of Leadership This is the largest section of the article and after exploring several models of leadership - both unacceptable and acceptable models - Dan then shares and defends his ideal model. 4. Unity in a World of Differing Models In his concluding section Dan talks through some of the issues that can often divide the Body of Messiah and offers some suggestions for bringing unity and conformity.
