The Family Sabbath

The second section of the book moves on to talk about celebrating Shabbat as a family. For many years or family has greatly benefited by Shabbat celebration.

Very young children get excited about the special meal and the anticipation of a family evening together. As our children were growing up, we precluded most other activities unless they were of great significance. This requires taking a stand and making a commitment to Shabbat family time.

It seems to us that there are Saturday and Sunday for times spent with other children and teens, but Shabbat is for the family to gather. However, we often invite friends to share Shabbat with us.

Shabbat is a memorial of creation and a thanksgiving time to God for his creation of the heavens and the earth; it is also the first memorial of the Exous from Egypt; it is also a covenant sign between God and Israel - by keeping Shabbat, we show that we believe in God and are committed to participate or live out this covenant as a unique people witness.

The Shabbat points to Yeshua, for it is in Him that we find rest for our souls> He is the Lord of Shabbat!

This section then includes a framework of prayers and blessing that you can use to celebrate Shabbat in your family.
