Jewish Evangelism - Isaiah 53 - Part 10

Isaiah 53:12 Therefore I will give Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoil with the mighty - because He poured out His soul to death, and was counted with transgressors. For He bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors.

Isn't this a great summary verse? The whole chapter is summed up here. "Therefore" means here is the logical conclusion of everything you just read about this suffering servant. Then we immediately find the phrase, "I will give Him." Who is speaking? It is in the book of Isaiah, but it clearly is not Isaiah who is speaking. God, our Father, will "give." After all, Who but the Creator has the power to give?

And what will God give His suffering servant (His only begotten Son), nothing less than an abundant portion. Satan tempted Yeshua with everything in the world, but Yeshua already knew the promised inheritance. Yeshua had to pass this third temptation before Satan would leave Him.

Matthew 4:8-10 Again, the devil takes Him to a very high mountain and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me." Then Yeshua says to him, "Go away, satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship Adonai your God, and Him only shall you serve.'"

You know, I like to come back to the question, "What about us?" We've got to resist Satan's temptations, just as Yeshua did, if we expect to share in Yeshua's promised inheritance. Jacob 4:7 Therefore submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.

And I'm going to close today with the following 3 verses ... Jacob 4:8-10 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded! Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of Adonai, and He shall lift you up.

Bonus: Keep your eyes on Yeshua ... Hebrews 12:1b-2 Let us run with endurance the race set before us, focusing on Yeshua, the initiator and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame; and He has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
