Don't be afraid!

"Just don't rebel against Adonai. And don't be afraid of the people living in the land - we'll eat them up! Their defense has been taken away from them, and Adonai is with us! Don't be afraid of them!" (Numbers 14:9, CJB)

These are the words that Joshua and Caleb use to the people of Israel, encouraging them to go in and take possession of the Land of Israel. Sadly, we know that the people ignored these words and refused to trust the L-rd, having to stay in the desert for another forty years.

We all have times when we have our giants and fears to overcome, so these words are just as relevant for us today! We have victories (times when we have trusted the L-rd and overcome) and failures (times when we have let fear triumph and have lost out on something good). What might you be facing today, this week, that you need to overcome, when you need to remember that the L-rd has already prepared the way?

Here are two key phrases for us to remember: Adonai is with us - don't be afraid of them. This is re-iterated in Hebrews, when the writer is speaking about failing to trust G-d and not entering the rest He has prepared. Let's listen and act on it - don't be afraid!

"Therefore, let us do our best to enter that rest; so that no one will fall short because of the same kind of disobedience." (Hebrews 4:11, CJB)
