Thanksgiving

Question of the day: Yeshua asks the question of the day today. Luke 17:17b "... where are the nine?"

Answer: 10 men who had tza'arat (leprosy) cried out to Yeshua and were healed, but only one returned to praise God. Yeshua asked, "Where are the nine?"

How quickly we forget. God moves with power in our lives and we move on. There is much sin that begins with an attitude of unthankfulness. This leads us into an attitude of entitlement which is the beginning of the end.

Here is a clue, the Greek word for "thanksgiving" is Eucharistia. This is where we get the word for the Table of the Lord, Eucharist. That's how important thanksgiving is in the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 10:16 "The cup of blessing (some translations call it the "cup of thanksgiving") that we bless - isn't it a sharing of Messiah's blood? The bread which we break - isn't it a sharing of Messiah's body?"

There's no shortage of Bible verses that proclaim and even command thanksgiving. Kind David, who is identified as a man after God's own heart (Acts 13:22) stuffed the Psalms with verses of thanksgiving. Please share one or two of your favorite verses on thanksgiving from anywhere in the Scriptures.

Thanks, R. Michael.
