Sent out - Part Two

We are looking at Luke 10:1-12 to explore the idea of being sent out ...

The second part of verse 2; "therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Pray or ask in the Hebrew translation is the same word

for beseech, implore or appeal. Our central point or focus should be standing before God in prayer and intercession for our surroundings. When we pray two things occur, we are changed; our thoughts are put aside and His thoughts become ours. Then we pray for His plans for the area and people around us. One thing we should remember is that often the very people we are standing in the gap for may be used as a tool of the enemy against God's plans and purposes for them.

In Verses 3 through 9 I see the following: reaching out while at the same time focusing on where we've been called by God and discipleship by bringing His Peace which dwells in us wherever we go, making ourselves available to those who are open to receive what we have to offer. Fellowship in the spirit of God; possible only when we die to ourselves so that the Spirit of God in each of us can be one, with nothing in between.

Finally in verse 9, service or ministry to the sick and to the dying in body, spirit and soul. Where there are thirsty people and there is one who proclaims healing; miracles will happen. We must be careful not to run from place to place so that we will not become weary and burn out but also so that we will not miss the reason we are in the place to begin with.

Our soul is thirsty all the time, the question is for what; the things of the flesh and this world or the Presence of God. When we are filled with Yeshua the thirst is gone, we are filled with the water of life which spills over to others. The congregation, building and people are not ours; they are His. We can easily look at the world as a desert and the congregation as an oasis. Each of us has the potential to be sent out daily bringing living water to a thirsty world.
