Longing for eternity

Most believers, at one time or another during our lifetime can be found longing for the day when we are no longer confined by these earthly bodies. Whether or not we know exactly what lies ahead; the thought of no more disease, tears, struggles, challenges and sorrows to name a few is enough for us to want to be any place but here.

One of our greatest gifts is the knowledge that all this is temporary and there is something else afterwards. We can live our lives according to what we believe even though we may not see it, as we are led by the Holy Spirit, not looking at the physical. As we follow Him, we have a guarantee that what motivates us in this life will not end.

In 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 we read that our main goal is not what we will or will not get out of it, but cheerfully pleasing God. All men will stand before God to be judged

for our deeds, good or bad. May God give us the ability to stand in the midst of the challenges of this life, strengthened by the knowledge of what awaits us. However may that knowledge give us the courage to stand up and go forth rather than to sit back and wait. We are here with a purpose, may we fulfill it as we with joy take our places serving the Lord.
