Who is our savior?

Question of the day: There is a curious verse that gives us the question of the day. Genesis 47:25 "You've saved our lives," they said. "We find favor in the eyes of my

lord, and we'll be Pharaoh's slaves." They look to Pharaoh as their savior and then promise to be his slaves. It must make a difference to whom we see as "saving our lives." So today's question is this ... "To whom do you look as saving your life?"

Answer: Maybe this question looks like I lobbed it over the net, just waiting for you to smash it back at me. Not so fast. There are three main answers here. We can see any false god as a savior (not always a person, but maybe a job or company, maybe a thing like a house or a car).

Another bad choice is to see ourselves as our own savior. This is another form of secular humanism. Secular humanism is based on the idea that "We can do this without God."

My third option here (and the only wise choice) is to choose God who created us, who sent us His Son to save us from our sins. (Something no false god or we ourselves could ever do.) Think about it; Satan and mankind created the problem of sin (rebellion against God), so how can the problem ever fix the problem? Impossible!

Choose God, the only wise God! (He is identified in this way in Scripture.)
