Question of the day: We read these words in Genesis 15:18 On that day Adonai cut a covenant with Abram, saying, "I give this land to your seed ..." If God gave the land, why does it still need to be conquered? Answer: God gives through covenant, but He wants us to own what He gives. It's been a few days since we had a good Rabbi Trail. Here is one. Rabbi Trail: There is a huge difference between owning and owing that goes way beyond the missing letter "n". Satan makes great bargains. Satan wants to "make a deal." The problem is that his deals are always bad deals. At the end of Satan's deals we are poorer and worse off than before. God gives through grace. When we partake from God's kingdom we are enriched. God gives the increase. Satan leaves us broke and in debt. The proud sucker for Satan's lies, while the humble are lifted up by the hand of God. The only way we own what God gives is to fight for it. Philippians 2:12 "Therefore, my loved ones, just as you have always obeyed - not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence--work out (fight for) your salvation with fear and trembling." The 10 spies who returned with a bad report saw only giants in the land. All 12 spies saw giant fruit. The faith of Joshua and Caleb kept things in perspective. They believed rightly that God would provide the victory.
