Psalm 124 - God has set us free from those who desire to trap us
|
Psalm 124:7-8 "Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth." NKJV Today we complete our study of Psalm 124 with the last 2 verses. Verse 7 uses two words twice; snare and escape. In the first part of the verse our soul escapes (like a bird), then we, ourselves, escape. Verse 8 is essentially a repetition of Psalm 121:2. Who is a "fowler" anyway? A trapper, or one who sets a snare. But we have received help from (just the name of) God. With His help, we have escaped. It is even reported the "trap" is broken. It brings forward the words of Yeshua from John 8:36 ... "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." NKJV
