Psalm 121 - God protects our souls from evil

Psalm 121:7-8 "The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore." NKJV

In verse 7 we find the root "Shomair" expressed twice. Both times it is in the third person masculine future tense and in reference to God (He will). In the first use "He will protect you" from all evil. In the second use, "He will protect you" your soul.

Then in verse 8, again "He will protect", but this time it is not "you". This time it is "your going out (or being brought forth) and your coming in. This ends with the phrase "Ma'ata V'Ad-Olam" which means "from now and until eternity."

In Israel there is a word that is used in Hebrew that has been borrowed from English. The word is pronounced, proteksia. It means "protection" as you might suspect. It's used in nefarious ways, like if you know something about your boss that could get him in trouble, then you have proteksia.

In the Kingdom of God and the relationship we have with Him through Messiah Yeshua, we hae protection of a different kind. These verses promise protection when we're out and when we're in. We have protection from evil and protection for our souls. And best of all, it's not time constrained; it lasts forever (literally Olam in Hebrew means to the edge of the universe).
