Mitzvah Day this Sunday!

Mitzvah Day 2016 - Sunday, February 21st 9:15AM-12:30PM Arnstein Jewish Community Center.

The word "mitzvah" means "good deeds". It also means "commandment" because we are commanded to perform good deeds. Let's help the larger Jewish community help Knoxville. Register in advance for many activities. This is something we can participate in as a congregation, together, as part of Jewish Knoxville. To register, Contact Jesse Feld 865-690-6343 jfeld@jewishknoxville.org (this is from the AJCC calendar).

What is this about? It's about helping the Jewish community help others. Here is a list: caring for families, helping the hungry, healing the sick, protecting the environment, speaking up for advocacy, preserving our heritage, improving the AJCC.

Donations to bring: backpacks and winter jackets (for Boys and Girls Club), peanut butter and toilet paper (for Mission of Hope), children's books, pens, pencils, and Crayola washable paint (for Centro Hispano).

Activities include: special action meet-n-greet, grounds for change cafe, Tikkun Olam survey, long-term partnership paths, beautification at IJAMS, Build-a-Bear for Children's Hospital, KJA Campaign (1:1 match on Mitzvah Day).

Schedule: 9:30 Welcome, 10:00 Rabbi's blessing, activities begin, 12:15 closing reflection.
