Sukkah Decorations at Shomair Yisrael
Last night we had a special event that I would like to share with you!
What: Help to make decorations for our congregational Sukkah.
Who: Ladies and children of Shomair and friends of the congregation.
When: Thursday, September 17th at 7PM.
Where: At our Shomair building on Sutherland Avenue.
Jennifer Smee offered to lead our opportunity to decorate the Sukkah for Sukkot. She asked the ladies and children of Shomair to join her and others from our Israel team as we gathered to make the traditional paper blessing and promises chains that will be used to decorate the Sukkah at Shomair Yisrael for the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot).
Jennifer said, "This is a total honor :) I am thrilled and delighted to be able to join in the joy of the season. It is a wonderful opportunity to participate in a Biblical holiday (Deuternomy 16:13-15, Numbers 29:12 and even John 7). We gathered at the congregational building at 7pm and I brought all the paper supplies and decorating items, but asked everyone to bring scissors, staplers and their Bibles."
She also told us a little of the evening, "We searched for and wrote down the many promises and blessings the Lord has given to us. It is these eternal blessing we live under and hope in while we dwell in these temporary places and in these temporary bodies. Calling to mind and then stringing together blessing after blessing is a great way to spend the evening. Later while the congregation is worshipping and fellowshipping in the sukkah the space will be adorned with beautiful truth!"
Many thanks to all those who participated in the event. Why don't you organize a similar event for your own congregation, there's still time before Sukkot!
