Quickened by the Spirit

Ephesians 2:2 "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins" KJV

Here we find the King James Version using the word "quickened" meaning brought to life - or empowered. Empowered is like we have had a battery installed. The battery runs off God power which is a never ending source of renewable energy.

John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." NKJV

Yes, without the Lord, we can do nothing.

Romans 8:12-17 "Therefore, brethren, we are debtors - not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; (ie. have no power) but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God (1), these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear (2), but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and joint heirs with Messiah, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. NKJV

(1) We cannot say we are led by the Spirit if we are not in reality led by the Spirit.

(2) Fear and faith are beyond opposites; they cannot exist in the same place at the same time. They are like light and darkeness.
