Taking Reasonable Steps to Keep Ourselves and Others Safe
|
This Mitzvah is derived from Deuteronomy 22:8 and Leviticus 19:18, although there are at least five other Scriptures that have a bearing on it. The Deuteronomy Scripture was commanded at a time when the roofs of houses were flat living areas, and it was intended to keep our families, our neighbors, and ourselves safe from falling. So how do we take that and bring it into our twenty-first century world where most roofs are not living areas? As the title suggests, I think this underlines an important principle that we should all adhere to. Mitzvah N7
