Evangelism and Salvation, Part One
|
Today and tomorrow I will be posting eight things that I think we need to keep in mind as we think about the issue of salvation and the practicalities of evangelism. So grab a Bible to look up the Bible passages I reference and have a read: 1) We are called to both the Jewish Community for evangelism and to the Church for education. (We do not come from a place of pride. We have our own blind spots and much to learn from the Church, but the reverse is also true. We can help shed light on their darkness.) 2) We exist in part for the salvation of Israel. We believe that Israel's (collective) salvation will have world transforming implications and promises based on a number of Bible passages, but primarily Romans 11:12 and 15. 3) There is no other people group in Scripture where the Bible promises that with the salvation of that people group (the Jewish people) it will result in revival for the rest of the world. 4) Zechariah 8:22-23 provides us with a "principle" for Jewish evangelism; a principle of multiplication. It is the principle of one to ten: for every one Jewish person saved, ten from the nations respond to the gospel. Regardless of the timeframe of Zechariah's prophecy, I believe the principle remains. This is not legalism or a law, but only a principle. Tomorrow I will post the last four points - do come back to read those, because we need all eight to see God's larger picture.
