Worshiping God through Praise, Prayer, & Service
|
It might surprise you that there is no direct command anywhere in the Torah to worship, praise or pray. Everywhere exemplified and even expected, none are required. The early commentators thus used 'service' as a synonym for them in order to include them in their lists of mitzvot. I follow their lead and allow 'worship' to be the umbrella that covers them all. As well as listing the many scriptures, I also review how the major Jewish codifiers of the mitzvot handle this issue. Mitzvah G8
